The Coalition actively promotes specialist services for older homeless people. This section describes tailored services that can be developed to meet the local needs of vulnerable older homeless people. We believe that the development of specialist services is particularly relevant to local authorities due to the introduction of the local homelessness strategies, under the Homelessness Act 2002, and the commissioning of new services under Supporting People. This section is designed to provide practical ideas and information about setting up direct services.
