Membership

The work of the Coalition is currently managed by Homeless Link and is supported by an Advisory Group made up of key members and outside experts. The work of the Coalition is coordinated by Sarah Gorton (Homeless Link).

Joining the Coalition on Older Homelessness is free. Any agency or individual working with older homeless people or interested in the issues of older homelessness, and in agreement with the Coalition Policy Principles and Objectives and the following Joint Statement can join by completing our membership form.

Members of the Coalition have all signed up to the following Coalition Joint Statement:

"Despite recent Government initiatives many older people continue to sleep rough or suffer from being trapped in poor, insecure and inappropriate accommodation. Older people over 50 are the most adversely affected by homelessness in relation to both physical and mental health, yet paradoxically they often face the greatest difficulties in gaining access to vital services. The needs of older people are often ignored because their experience of homelessness is less visible than other groups and they lack the voice and representation required to highlight their specific interests and issues. We, the undersigned call on all levels of government and both statutory and voluntary agencies in the UK, to recognise the distinct plight of older homeless people and to join us in taking sustained action to tackle and prevent this unacceptable situation."

On joining you will receive notification of our quarterly meetings which are held in different locations around the country. Agendas and minutes for meetings are available on our Minutes and Agendas page. The purpose of the meetings is both share information and good practice, to meet other practitioners and policy makers and to discuss and influence the work of the Coalition on Older Homelessness Project. You will also receive a newssheet with policy news relevant to older homelessness.

There are over 100 agencies and individuals signed up to the Coalition on Older Homelessness, some of which are listed on our Member Organisations page.
